Closing for a refurb

I haven't put any news up for over a year, I promise to keep you more updated in the future!!
Anyway,we are closing down this weekend for 3 weeks to do some work on the pub. Don't worry, we will still be a traditional pub when we reopen, just fresher. The main job will be putting in a new staircase from the main bar to the upstairs room, and moving the upstairs bar to a better location.
A new carpet, new upholstery, new tiles, repaint in and out, redecorate toilets and AIR-CONDITIONING at last.
We are also adding 2 extra real ale pumps, to take us up to 8, and installing a new cooling system to maintain a perfect serving temperature no matter what the weather!
We hope to reopen on Thursday evening on 30th August, all going well!

The winner (in a close vote) was Grainstore Rutland Panther, with Darkstar Hophead, Rebellion Red, and Pictish Brewers Gold also in the running.
We were surprised at the popularity of the dark beers and have vowed to get them in more often.

Beer Festival A Huge Success

The first Edgar Wallace beer festival was a massive success with all the beers sold in 7 days. General opinion was that we should have three of four a year. Oakham JHB, Harveys Sussex, and Harviestoun's Bitter and Twisted were the most popular with the Bitter and Twisted selling out in 7 hours (and this includes the quiet afternoon period). Watch this space for details of our next onr.
